The Technology Services Department at Kiski Area School District is essential in managing and maintaining the district's technological infrastructure, which supports both educational and administrative functions. The department's responsibilities encompass the installation, maintenance, and continuous support of various technology systems crucial to the district's daily operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Computer Networks and Hardware: The department handles the design, installation, and maintenance of the district's computer networks, ensuring reliable and secure connectivity for students, faculty, and staff. This also includes managing all hardware, such as servers, desktops, laptops, and other peripherals, to ensure they operate efficiently and effectively.

  2. VoIP Communication Systems: The department is responsible for the district's Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems, which provide essential communication capabilities across all schools and administrative offices. This system is integral to maintaining clear and reliable communication within the district.

  3. Public Address and Bell Systems: The Technology Services team oversees the installation and upkeep of public address and bell systems throughout the district. These systems are critical for making announcements, signaling class transitions, and ensuring effective communication during emergencies.

Department Structure:

  • Director of Information Technology: The Director of Information Technology leads the department, overseeing all operations and ensuring that the district's technology resources align with its educational and administrative goals.

  • Network Administrator: The Network Administrator is tasked with the design, implementation, and management of the district's network infrastructure, focusing on maintaining security and ensuring the network meets the needs of all users.

  • Technology Technicians: The department includes two full-time technology technicians and one part-time technician. These technicians are responsible for providing technical support across the district, addressing hardware and software issues, and assisting with the deployment of new technology systems.
